Dixie Chopper Truck and the Tennessee Two-Step

Jake Zaring ready to race.

CROSSVILLE, Tenn -- Veteran Fillmore truck puller Jake Zaring did the Tennessee two-step this past weekend.

Zaring and the Dixie Chopper pulling truck captured back-to-back contests in the Pro Modified 4-Wheel-Drive Truck class in the Slick Mist Series at Crossville, Tenn., Friday and Saturday.

“We had a pretty good weekend in Tennessee,” Zaring crew chief Jim Hilburn said in an understatement.

Zaring’s world-championship Dodge won Friday’s night event with a pull just shy of 300 feet at 299.96. He beat his nearest competitor by nearly five feet.

On Saturday, it was more of the same as Zaring maneuvered the Dixie Chopper Dodge to 298.6 feet, edging the runner-up War Wagon of Knoxville’s David Mills by just under 1.5 feet.

The event was also a charity pull for the House of Hope, a refuge for children of drug addicts. Dixie Chopper and Team Lucas donated a mower that was given away during a Saturday raffle. In all, more than $15,000 was raised for charity.

Zaring is the reigning Pro Modified 4-Wheel-Drive Truck world champion, having won the title at the World Championship Truck and Tractor Pull during the National Farm Machinery Show in February at Louisville’s Freedom Hall.

Hilburn, who is Dixie Chopper’s national service manager, said the event was also a success for Dixie Chopper.

“Our display was set up at the entrance to the pits, and every person that went to the pits had to walk by the Dixie Chopper display.”

Hilburn also relayed some kind words for Dixie Chopper from Zaring himself.

“Jake wanted me to tell all of you thanks for the continued support that Team Dixie Chopper (Dixie, Lucas Oil, White Hydraulics and Generac) has given him. He said he will continue to do his best for us.”
