'Two Guys Garage' features Dixie Chopper mower

Two Guys Garage, TV show with a Dixie Chopper Silver Eagle.

Chalk up another national television appearance for Dixie Chopper. The Silver Eagle model was featured in a recent episode of the popular Speed Channel program “Two Guys Garage.”

During a 30-minute episode titled “Light Maintenance,” host Sam Memmolo -- a self-proclaimed Dixie Chopper fanatic -- fashioned a suspension upgrade for a Silver Eagle mower and then offered some general small engine repair tips to his cable TV audience.

The segment aired originally on Feb. 11 and will be rebroadcast three times in coming weeks -- at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 1, at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 2 and at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6 on The Speed Channel.

A Silver Eagle owned by the father of “Two Guys Garage” director Brian DiCerb was used for the episode. “We’ve been wanting to do a show like that for a while,” DiCerb said.

DiCerb said the lights attached to the front bumper of the mower where installed by his father so he could "drive around and kill snakes" on his property at night.

Memmolo customized the Silver Eagle with a springer front end that is standard only on Dixie Chopper’s propane-powered LP3000 and some models of the new Xcaliber series. While doing the work on camera, Memmolo had nothing but good things to say about the quality of Dixie Chopper.

Viewers might remember Memmolo from his “Shadetree Mechanic” and “Crank & Chrome” days on TNN in the 1990s. Now he's tackling high-tech how-to problems with his old friend Dave McBride in “Two Guys Garage.” McBride was not in the Dixie Chopper segment.

The show is entering its fifth season on Speed, and 26 original episodes are being produced for the current season. Ongoing mechanical projects are a part of every show and provide the basis for new problems to solve.

Two Guys Garage” covers virtually every aspect of customizing and building vehicles, including dyno and track testing. The series includes fabrication techniques with everything from how to properly drill a hole and tap a thread to welding and machining.

Sam and Mac also visit well-known shops in the performance and engineering industry, and recognized experts occasionally stop by the “Two Guys Garage” shop to lend their technical authority to the series.
