Couple hits paydirt with Dixie Chopper mower in Colts’ television show drawing

Amy Crisp of Alexandria, Ind., is ready to mow with her new Dixie Chopper Silver Eagle, presented recently as the grand prize in a "Colts Up Close" TV drawing. On hand for the presentation at the Indianapolis Colts Complex were (from left) Dixie Chopper representatives Matt Land and Rick Judy, "Colts Up Close" TV host Jeffrey Gorman, husband Tony Crisp and daughters Kelsey and Kayla Crisp.

Dixie Chopper and the Crisp family of Alexandria, Ind., couldn’t have been a more perfect match if eHarmony had quizzed them with a quadrillion questions.

Dixie Chopper, the official lawn mower of the Indianapolis Colts, was giving away a new mower through a promotion with the NFL team. And the Crisps, who mow five acres in Madison County, were tired of spending half their weekend cutting grass.

And now they own one of the world’s fastest lawn mowers.

As luck would have it, Amy Crisp won the mower by sending a postcard reply to a trivia question on the “Colts Up Close” TV show. Viewers did that all season and a Dixie Chopper Silver Eagle mower was the end-of-the-year grand prize in a drawing of those postcard entries.

The Silver Eagle mower features a 50-inch cutting deck and a 23-hp Kohler engine along with such other Dixie Chopper staples as stainless steel fenders, a patented operator-controlled discharge chute and electric blade engagement.

Husband Tony Crisp, outfitted in a Peyton Manning jersey, couldn’t be happier.

“We needed a new mower,” he said, explaining that the Crisps had been mowing their five-acre property with two old lawn tractors.

“And one of them is always broken down,” Crisp smiled, knowing he can laugh about that now.

Their new Dixie Chopper will likely cut that mowing time in half come this spring.

Amy and Tony Crisp were presented with their Dixie Chopper Feb. 6 at the indoor practice facility at the Colts Complex in Indianapolis. They were joined in the ceremony by daughters Kelsey and Kayla.

“Colts Up Close” TV host Jeffrey Gorman joined Dixie Chopper National Sales Manager Matt Land and Media Marketing Manager Rick Judy in presenting the mower to the Crisps. Dixie Chopper has been a sponsor of “Colts Up Close” the past three years and has given a mower away each season.
